FDM 3D Printed Figurine
Some objects are notoriously difficult to produce using additive manufacturing methods without the use of sacrificial support structures. Most FDM type of printers print with only one type of material at the same time, so it becomes a challenge to actually remove the support structure afterwards via mechanical means. For cases like this, there is the Autodesk Meshmixer to generate a special type of "tree" snap-off supports as demonstrated below.
Once printed, the supports could be snapped off. It took a few iterations to get all the print parameters right, but the end result turned out to be a very solid 3D print.
